What color is your roof?

In Conil, near Cadiz, Spain, you can paint your roof any color you like, as long as it's white
"Studies show that white roofs reduce air-conditioning costs by 20 percent or more in hot, sunny weather. Lower energy consumption also means fewer of the carbon dioxide emissions that contribute to global warming."

Well, since putting a reflective tin roof on this house, the upstairs seems a lot cooler than usual.
Commonsense, I guess, which is something the government has zero of. This is Flagstaff, not Feenix, but they still built a county building with windows that don't open and air con that has to run all the time, creating massive noise pollution for us, plus they leave lights on all night. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. We need a true e-volution!!

We would love to have a metal roof, in the meantime we have gable vents (and about 18 inches of insulation) so the hot air can escape and keeps a cool shady buffer between our living quarters and the roof.

Ours is sort of a dirty white. Ugly. But nobody ever goes up there.
