Someone brought me flowers
Today I used the iPhone camera to get a shot of a bouquet of bonbon jasmine a kind library patron named Bob brought me today from his garden. I've seen a number of jasmine varieties, but this one's new to me. They're so fragrant I can smell them across the room, their leaves are a lovely, glossy green and Bob says I can buy the plants at a nursery here in town.
Now I'm picturing a couple of Talavera pots planted with bonbon jasmine by my front door, their fragrance wafting on the breeze.
Any of my friends who are allergic to flowers will have to come in the back door.
The iPhone doesn't produce what I'd call "tack sharp" photos with indoor lighting, but they're large so they can be reduced, improving the resolution.

How sweet! I really love Jasmine's. Unfortunately they're bad for my allergies.
Your Iphone pics look a lot like the pics I've been taking with my son's Nintendo DSi. I'm still trying to figure out how to make them look a little cleaner. :)
I hope you have a lovely weekend, Bliss!
Okay my landlady gave me a little piece of a plant awhile back. She called it Flore de la montana (sp?), flower of the mountain and said it would smell nice.
It is now blooming and doesn't have any scent at all. I called her up and she couldn't believe it had no scent, strange.
Anyway it sure looks like the same plant, so I hope when you start some it has a scent.
I want to get a slip or some seeds from a neighbor for that trailing plant that smells so great in the evening. It is the apple jasmine and I love the smell of it in the evening. The blooms change color 3 times in the day. Neat.
Can't identify this cultivar--at least google doesn't know it by this name
Sorry about your allergy. Of course, you can get your olfactory jollies in your kitchen, amiga. I think since there's no way to attach a tripod to these kinds of cameras, you have to find something to stand it on, or brace yourself against.
Brenda and Anonnymouse: I Googled jasmine images and found only one that matches, on a blog called "Pick Me Yard: A Family Garden" by a gardener in Southwest Florida. http://pickmeyard.wordpress.com/tag/jasminum-sambac/
The jasmine is called Grand Duke of Tuscany and it grows as a bush. It's edible (some jasmines aren't) and can be used to make jasmine water.
just got caught up on your blog since i've been busy with family. when i saw the picture i thought it was a gardenia, which is also very fragrant, but its leaves are a bit pointy. i bought one at a farmer's market a while back-cost a lot more than the one i bought in chacala.
why are you selling your boat? if you've blogged about it, i somehow missed it.
take care,
teresa
