That was also the last day I saw Fé. She wasn't pleased when we took in Sugar for fostering, but they were starting to adapt to each other, so I don't think she left in a huff. She was an indoor/outdoor cat when we adopted her last fall and I couldn't see trying to keep her indoors, especially since I always considered our neighborhood very safe, facing onto the golf course instead of the street. But it appears that wherever the Cat Man's cats went, Fé went too.
Since then, I have only allowed Sugar into the patio when I can be there to keep an eye on her. The Capt and I still sometimes walk around the neighborhood calling Fé, hoping she'll turn up, but now it's been almost a week and we are discouraged. She was only with us for about eight months, but she was so much a part of our lives, it will take a while to get used to not seeing her perched by the front door, surveying her territory.

If you lived here, I would suspect my laguna friend. But what is happening up your way? Coyotes?
We have only one answer for such a sudden disappearance of so many cats: the circus truck. A friend told me that when the circus comes to town, stray cats and dogs disappear. Keeps their food budget down. I can hardly bear to think of Fé ending up that way, but what else could it be? I will NEVER go to a Mexican circus.
the circus?
I'm going to be sick.
Oh NO! That's horrible, but it makes a lot of sense. A coyote or owl or hawk wouldn't be able to clear them out in an hour. Only mankind can do that.
This is very suspicious, cats don't disappear en mass like this. I hope Fe graces your door once again.

A friend of mine in Cancun said the circus people actually get the local kids to round up cats & dogs with a promise to be paid for them...and yes they feed them to the circus animals.
